An essential study of the principles and practices required for safety, efficacy and clinical governance within
​the medispa sector
This is an e-learning qualification in which knowledge is delivered through our interactive audio-visual presentations. True to its name, the Core of Knowledge underpins all other units of our Level 4 qualification portfolio and represents a mandatory study for every aesthetic practitioner as specified by the Health Education England Report published on January 8th 2016. Due to its importance and in addition to being available as a Level 4 Award in its own right , it is embedded into each of our Certificate and Diploma courses.

The Award in Core Knowledge is also the perfect baseline course for managers, non-practitioner personnel or anyone involved in the establishment and running of an aesthetic practice.

Course format
This course is made up of one unit of study:
Unit 1 – Core of Knowledge for Aesthetic Practice

Course Unit Format – 8 Modules:
​Module 1 – Working in the Aesthetic Industry
Module 2 – Legislation and Clinical Governance
Module 3 – Microbiology for the Aesthetic Practitioner
Module 4 – Infection Control in the Medical Aesthetic Clinic
Module 5 – Establishing & Managing A Medispa Practice
Module 6 – Assessment of the Aesthetic Client
Module 7 – Intermediate Skin Science
Module 8 – Elementary Anatomy & Physiology for the Facial Aesthetic Practitioner

Optional additional unit:
Unit 7 – The Principles & Practices of the Medispa Sector
This unit of study can be added onto your qualification. It is made up of a series of one-day short courses, seminars and workshops to provide you with the opportunity to learn from some of the most prominent practitioners in the aesthetic industry. It is designed to enable you to gain additional knowledge and insight into a wide range of subject areas not included in your level 4 course but which are of interest to your future career or business progression

Course Assessment – Online multiple choice questions, 5,000 word assignment, and final CIBTAC theory examination

Duration – This is completely flexible but, on average, you need to allow 32 guided learning hours plus private study time, assessment and assignment completion
