The National Massage Championship

The National Massage Championship will be returning to Olympia Beauty on Sun 3 - Mon 4 October 2021 for the third year and opens for the first time to international competitors across the entire competition! This incredible event welcomes all qualified massage therapists and bodyworkers to compete for a trophy or two in 6 competition categories!

The competition will be taking place on the Gallery level at Olympia London. Qualified therapists are invited to showcase their technique and bodywork skills in six different categories including Advanced Massage, SPA/Wellness Massage, Freestyle Massage, Eastern Massage, Chair Massage and Clinical Massage. Bringing together qualified massage therapists of all backgrounds, The National Massage Championship is run by therapists for therapists and judged by our panel of international judges with extensive professional massage therapy experience. We look forward to seeing you there!

Once you have completed registration and payment for The National Massage Championship 2020, your entry is non-refundable and non-transferable. Everyone competing and modelling must be aged 18+ and register for entrance to the show (for free) separately.

The competition categories explained...

Advanced Massage (1 hour massage)
This includes any advance massage techniques such as deep tissue, remedial/sports techniques, MFR, NMT, trigger points, mobilisation or any other advanced massage technique including Swedish Massage technique and tools allowed.

Freestyle Massage (1 hour massage) 
This category will include a rich mix of massage and bodywork skills that are inspired by western /eastern modalities- your own unique set of skills.

Spa/Wellness Massage (1 hour massage) 
Classical Swedish, Beauty and Spa style massage techniques. No advanced massage techniques allowed (see Advance Massage category).

Clinical Massage (1 hour massage)
Using advanced massage techniques, advanced massage and body work techniques that include muscular and skeletal manipulation techiques, mind. Particularly focus on pain or trauma. Massage tools allowed (cupping, dry needling, and fascia release tools etc) Entrants will be asked to pick one of 3x medical pathologies to treat (options sent well in advance)

Eastern Massage (1 hour massage) 
This category will be based on eastern medical system including Traditional Thai Massage, Thai Yoga massage, Shiatsu, Ayurveda, and Indonesian and Polynesian techniques amongst others. Tools are allowed.

Chair Massage (40 minute massage) 
This massage should be implemented on an industry standard professional massage chair and the model must be fully clothed. You can be creative in the technique in this category. Please supply your own chair. No chair? Please request a chair when registering.

10.30am - 11.30am: SPA/Wellness round 2 and Freestyle Categories round 2
12.00noon - 1.00pm:  Freestyle Categories Round 3, Eastern round 1
1.05pm - 1.55pm: Lunch Break
1.10pm - 1.40pm: Winner performances
2pm - 3pm: Global Category: Freestyle Eastern & Freestyle Western
3.45pm - 4pm: Global Awards with UK Awards
4.15pm - 5.15pm: Global East meets West Grand Finale



9am - 9.15am: Registration open for Advanced
9.20am – 9.25am: Opening Speech by Head Judge
9.30am - 10.30am: Advanced and Clinical Massage round 1
11am – 12pm: Advanced round 2 and Chair Massage round 1
12.05pm – 12.45pm: Lunch Break
12.10pm - 12.40pm: Winning Performance showcase
1pm – 1.20pm: Awards Ceremony on the Olympia Stage
2pm – 3pm: The National Massage Championship Grand Finale
3.30 - 3.45pm: Judges Excellence Awards
3.45pm - 5pm: Networking Event for The NMC
